A Brief History about KCS
Discipline and Excellence
Kigali Christian School started operations in January 2006. The
school is owned and operated by Youth For Christ / Rwanda. The
school was originally meant to serve the poor community of
Kibagabaga. Fortunately, the area has developed into a prime
residential area occupied by well-to-do families. Therefore,
KCS serves the opulent families that privately pay their tuition.
Notably KCS serves economically disadvantaged children
through YFC/Rwanda school sponsorship programs supported
by our local international partners and friends.
YFC/Rwanda is a youth evangelism and discipleship movement founded by Jean Baptiste MUGARURA in 1995, with plans initiated in 1993. Their focus is on sharing the message of Jesus Christ with young people, emphasizing repentance, healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation. In 1996, they started looking for land to establish a Youth Training Center, offices, and a potential school. With the assistance of friends, including James HABARUGABA, they acquired land in Kibagabaga in 1997. Construction of the Youth Center began in 2002, and in 2005, Kigali Christian School was built, opening in 2006. The school provides quality education and promotes Christian values for children from different backgrounds. Additional campuses were later established in Rwamagana in 2015 and Byumba in 2023.
