In addition to academic work, children are trained to discover their potentials in different fields of life such as sports, public speaking, debates, reading, and writing. Student life at KCS Elementary, Kigali Campus includes the following:
In sports, the school has several playgrounds, enough for the necessary skills development in football, basketball, volleyball, and handball. The school hires professional trainers in the field of sports, who coach school teams and engage them in competitions with other schools.
We have also invested a lot in making sure that languages are developed. We integrate technology while teaching literacy essentials such as sounds, listening skills… Learners are trained in public speaking through weekly debates. We are constantly working on this extracurricular program to offer a variety of activities. We as well encourage parents who wish to offer a skill to meet the school and participate.
We fervently work around developing a reading culture with our students. KCS students visit our library to read or borrow books. Some resources are age-appropriate. Our learners are constantly developing their reading skills.
We strongly encourage reading at home. According to research, there are many benefits associated with reading for pleasure.
