EXTRACURRICULAR

Beyond the classroom, Kigali Christian School (KCS) embraces the holistic development of its students through a diverse range of extracurricular activities. These programs are designed to cultivate talents, build character, and foster a sense of community among our student body.

Our sports programs, including football, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, and more, promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These activities not only encourage students to stay active but also instill values of discipline and perseverance. For the 2023-2024 academic year, we have organized a robust lineup of secondary school sports teams, comprising football and basketball teams for both junior (U14/Middle School) and senior (U18/High School) levels, as well as a volleyball senior boys team. In total, there are nine dedicated teams actively participating and representing the school in various competitions and events.

In addition to our structured team sports, we engage students through inter-house and inter-class competitions, which further enhance school spirit and camaraderie. Notable achievements include AGAPE HOUSE winning in football boys, volleyball boys, basketball boys, and basketball girls, and FAITH HOUSE excelling in athletics for both boys and girls. In the inter-class competitions, the S6 class triumphed in basketball for both boys and girls, while the S5 class secured victory in football for boys. We also host volleyball friendly games, such as the match between KCS and Santa Fe Christian School, which concluded with KCS winning 2 sets to 1. Our program includes various friendly games for students and staff members, fostering a vibrant and interactive community spirit.

These sports activities bring immense joy to our students and contribute to their holistic growth. However, there is a growing need for additional activities, more coaches, and better equipment to further develop these sports and cater to our diverse and energetic youth.

Moreover, our talent development initiatives in music, dance, drama, comedy, and debate allow students to explore and enhance their creative abilities. These extracurricular pursuits also sharpen public speaking and performance skills, preparing students for various facets of life beyond academics. Furthermore, our student-led clubs and societies provide platforms for leadership, teamwork, and community service. Whether through academic clubs, environmental initiatives, or cultural societies, students engage in activities that enrich their school experience and contribute positively to society.
